Quick answer

Generac, by 02 Energy designs and installs commercial EV charging across New Jersey - fleet depots, workplace and multifamily charging banks, and customer-facing stations for retail, hospitality and municipal sites. Projects are engineered in-house through CPI, sized with a real load study, and quoted with NJ utility make-ready programs and accelerated depreciation modeled into the price. Site walkthroughs are free and every proposal is written.

Electrifying a fleet is an electrical project, not a hardware order

Chargers are the visible 20 percent. The other 80 percent is service capacity, load management, trenching and conduit, utility coordination, and the incentive paperwork that can move a project's net cost by tens of thousands of dollars. Operators who buy hardware first and think about electrical second end up paying for the project twice.

We run it in the right order: load study first, incentive stack second, hardware specified last. New Jersey is one of the better states to do this in right now - port-and-turnpike logistics density, clean-fleet rules pushing electrification, and a utility make-ready stack that keeps paying out long after any one federal credit window closes.

Who We Build For

Six kinds of sites. One engineering process.

Different buyers, different reasons to charge on-site - the load study, incentive modeling and build process are the same for all six.

Fleet depots

Delivery, HVAC, plumbing, last-mile and service vans that sit overnight. Depot electricity runs roughly $0.04/mile against $0.18/mile for diesel - the fleet is bleeding margin at every gas stop and public charger.

Multifamily & property

Apartments, HOAs and retail centers where charging is now part of the tenant and guest experience. A parking lot without charging is a property that is starting to look dated to the next lease-up.

Retail & hospitality

C-stores, hotels and shopping centers that can turn a parking lot into a revenue line - paid charging plus longer dwell time and higher in-store or on-property spend.

Workplace & office

Employee and visitor charging that has moved from perk to expectation. Facilities without it are already behind on talent attraction and sustainability reporting.

Municipal & transit

First-aid squads, public works fleets and transit operators running grant-funded projects. We know the procurement process and the paperwork that comes with public money.

Charging as revenue

High-traffic sites that want DC fast charging as a standalone destination, not just an amenity. We size the hub to your traffic pattern and your grid capacity, not a catalog spec sheet.

The Economics

What charging actually costs against what it replaces

Fuel and downtime are the two numbers that move a payback model the most, and both favor depot charging once the electrical work is done right.

$0.04 vs $0.18 per mile

Depot electricity runs roughly $0.04/mile against roughly $0.18/mile for diesel. On a 10-vehicle fleet running 25,000 miles a year, that gap works out to roughly $350,000 in fuel savings over ten years, before maintenance or incentives.

~40% less maintenance

Fewer moving parts means fewer oil changes, belts and exhaust repairs. Fleets that switch typically see maintenance spend drop by around 40 percent per vehicle, on top of the fuel savings.

Hours back, not just dollars

Vehicles waiting at public chargers lose 35 to 60 minutes a day each - four to five hours a week per vehicle. Across a 10-vehicle fleet that is close to a full-time salary in paid time nobody is driving.

Incentives We Help You Capture

The levers that still pay out after the federal credit window

The Section 30C federal credit windows have moved and tightened. We do not sell projects on a credit that may not be available by the time you build. These are the levers that hold up regardless.

  • NJ utility make-ready programs. New Jersey's utilities run make-ready programs that can cover a meaningful share of the utility-side infrastructure - panel work, trenching and transformer upgrades - for qualifying projects. This is the most durable dollar-for-dollar incentive available today, and we check every address against the current program rules.
  • State-level programs. New Jersey and neighboring states run their own grant and rebate programs on top of the utility stack, targeted at fleets, transit and multifamily projects. Eligibility changes with the budget cycle, so we verify what is live at the time of your proposal rather than quoting from memory.
  • Accelerated depreciation. MACRS and bonus depreciation let you write off qualifying charging equipment faster than standard schedules, which lowers the effective after-tax cost of the project. Your accountant applies it; we make sure the equipment and documentation qualify.
  • Prior federal credit eligibility. If your project broke ground or was placed in service under an earlier Section 30C window, there may still be a claim to sort out with your tax advisor. We flag anything that looks relevant during the walkthrough - we do not build the pitch around it.

How a fleet or property project runs

  1. 01

    Site walkthrough and load study

Engineers meter your service, map dwell times, and define how many ports you need now versus at buildout - free, no obligation.

  2. 02

    Payback model and written proposal

Cost per mile, downtime savings, and the utility, state and depreciation stack modeled into one document - the real net cost, on paper, before you spend a dollar.

  3. 03

    Utility coordination and build

Service upgrades, trenching, switchgear and charger installation - one team, one schedule, one point of contact.

  4. 04

    Commissioning and ongoing support

Network activation, driver or tenant onboarding, monitoring, scheduled maintenance and a 24-hour commercial line.

Commercial EV Charging FAQs

Level 2 or DC fast charging for a fleet?

It comes down to dwell time. Vehicles that sit overnight or through a shift are usually best served by managed Level 2 - dramatically cheaper per port and easier on your electrical service. Vehicles that turn around mid-shift may justify DC fast charging at a fraction of the ports. The load study answers it with numbers, not opinions.

What does commercial EV charging cost per port?

Level 2 commercial ports typically run a few thousand dollars each once hardware, labor and electrical work are included. DC fast charging ports cost significantly more and scale with power output. Every site is different once panel capacity, trenching distance and utility coordination are factored in - the site walkthrough produces a written proposal with the real number.

How do the payback models work?

We start with your actual fuel or public-charging cost per mile, model what depot charging costs on your rate schedule, and lay out the savings month by month against the install cost. You see the breakeven point before you commit to anything - it is a spreadsheet built on your numbers, not a generic estimate.

What incentives are still available in New Jersey?

The durable money now runs through NJ utility make-ready programs, which can cover a meaningful share of the utility-side infrastructure, plus accelerated depreciation (MACRS and bonus depreciation) that shifts the effective cost down further. If a state program applies to your site we build it into the proposal. Some projects that broke ground under prior federal credit windows may still have eligibility to sort out with your tax advisor - we flag it, they confirm it.

Can our electrical service handle fleet or workplace charging?

Often the service needs help - that is normal, and it is exactly the work we do. Load management software can stretch existing capacity across more ports than the panel would suggest. When an upgrade is genuinely needed, we handle the utility coordination end to end so it is one project, not three vendors.

Do you handle multi-site or multi-location projects?

Yes. Multi-site operators get standardized equipment, one point of contact, and one contract across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, instead of a different vendor per address.

Do you handle ongoing maintenance and support?

Yes. Networked chargers are monitored, maintenance is scheduled, and our 24-hour commercial line covers emergencies. If a port goes down, you get a ticket and a technician, not a support queue.

What is the site walkthrough, and does it cost anything?

It is free. An engineer walks the site, meters your electrical service, maps vehicle or visitor dwell times, and leaves you with a written proposal that includes scope, price, and the incentives your site qualifies for. No pressure to sign before you have the number in hand.
